ChatGPT
Named my business first
It pulled the $60 a month price and the terms correctly, then ranked me above a competitor advertising $59.99, because their real total is $66.71 once a service fee and tax land.
ChatGPT and AI search optimization
I make San Antonio business pages the ones ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity actually quote. I did it for my own rental company first. It produced five customers in a month, and they closed better than anything Facebook ever sent me.
$500 flat for one page. $1,500 for up to five. No retainer, no contract.
The short version. An answer engine has to pick one answer and name a source. It picks the page whose facts it can repeat without getting caught out. Most local business pages contain no facts a model can repeat.

I own RentWashersSA, a washer and dryer rental company here in San Antonio. On 30 August 2026 I checked what the engines said about "cheap washer and dryer rental."
ChatGPT
It pulled the $60 a month price and the terms correctly, then ranked me above a competitor advertising $59.99, because their real total is $66.71 once a service fee and tax land.
Gemini
It listed genuinely cheaper options, $49.99 and $29.99 a month, and still put my business first with the most complete entry. I was not close to the cheapest.
The result
August 2026. Better quality than Facebook Marketplace, which had been my main source for two years. They arrive already knowing the price and already sold.
I am one operator, not a case study library. This is one business, one metro, one month, and I will show you the actual screenshots on a call rather than ask you to take my word for it.
Why it works
Google hands back ten links and lets the visitor decide, so it never has to be right. An answer engine has to commit. When ChatGPT tells someone a price, it is staking its own credibility on your number.
So it behaves like anyone making a bet. It picks the source least likely to embarrass it. My competitor advertised a number that fell apart under checking, and their own marketing became evidence against them. Mine was $60, and $60 was the whole story.
The model rewards the number it can trust and penalizes the number it has to correct. That is the entire mechanic, and almost nobody local is doing anything about it yet.
Real numbers
The AEO industry sells monthly retainers, so nobody publishing on this topic will tell you it can be a one time fix. Here is the whole market, mine included.
| Option | Typical price | What you are actually paying for |
|---|---|---|
| Do it yourself | Free | The whole method is published below and the checks are listed. If you or someone on your team writes your web copy, you can do this. It is roughly a day of work per page the first time. |
| Self serve AEO tool | $29 to $489 / mo | Mostly measurement. These tell you whether you are being cited. They do not write the page, which is the part that changes the outcome. |
| Local agency GEO package | From $1,550 / mo | The lowest priced entry from a named agency on published 2026 comparison lists. Ongoing retainer. |
| One time AI visibility audit | $1,500 to $5,000 | An audit. A document telling you what is wrong. The rewrite is usually quoted separately. |
| Boutique to mid market retainer | $3,000 to $8,000 / mo | Full service programs built for companies with content teams and a budget cycle. Genuinely good work at that tier, and priced for businesses much larger than most of mine. |
| What I charge | $500 one time | One page: the audit, the rewrite, the schema markup, verification on your live site, and a cold logged out check in ChatGPT and Gemini. $1,500 for up to five pages. No retainer, no contract, nothing to cancel. You own the page and any developer can maintain it. |
Agency and tool pricing taken from those companies' own published pricing and comparison pages on 31 August 2026. Prices change, so check before committing to anything, including mine.
The honest version
If one of these is true you will waste $500. I would rather say it here than take the money.
Reason one
This amplifies demand that already exists. It does not create it. If people are not asking assistants for what you sell, optimizing for it changes nothing. Test it yourself in five minutes before you call me: open ChatGPT and ask it the way a customer would.
Reason two
The entire mechanic runs on publishing a number that survives checking. If your pricing is genuinely custom every time, or you have decided not to put numbers on your site, the main lever is gone and you should spend the money somewhere else.
Reason three
Nobody controls what a model says, and anyone promising you a citation is selling something. I control whether your page is structurally citable, and I show you the before and after score. If your page cannot improve on those checks, I will tell you and not take the job.
The method
I score every page against seven checks: is there a number in the title tag, is there a number in the meta description, is the money question answered anywhere, are there at least three headings phrased as real questions, does each answer stand alone, does the FAQ schema parse and match the visible copy, and does every price say what is included.
Below five out of seven and a model will reach past you for a competitor. My rental company scores seven. This page scores seven. Most local business pages I check score two or three.
You can run those checks by hand on your own site this afternoon. I charge for doing it properly and fast, not for knowing something you cannot find out.
Process
I audit your page against the seven checks, then read your three closest competitors to find the question they all dodge. That question is usually your opening.
Number in the title. Your real question as the heading. A complete answer underneath that a model can lift in one sentence. A comparison including the options cheaper than you, and an honest section on who should not buy.
I check the live page, not the draft, re-score it, and run the query logged out in ChatGPT and Gemini so you can see what a stranger gets. Then you own it.
FAQ
I charge $500 flat for one page, or $1,500 for up to five pages. That includes the audit, the rewrite, the schema markup, verification on the live site, and a cold logged out query check in ChatGPT and Gemini. It is a one time fee with no contract and no monthly retainer. For comparison, published agency pricing in 2026 runs $1,550 to $8,000 per month for local and mid market AEO programs, and standalone one time AI visibility audits are commonly quoted at $1,500 to $5,000.
Almost always because their page states a specific, checkable fact that yours does not, usually a price. An answer engine has to commit to one answer, so it picks the source least likely to embarrass it. A page that publishes a complete number gets quoted. A page of positioning language with no numbers has nothing for the model to lift, so it reaches for whoever does publish one, even if that competitor is smaller than you.
No. My own rental business charges $60 a month and ChatGPT ranked it above a competitor advertising $59.99, because that competitor's real total is $66.71 once a service fee and tax are added. The model found the gap between the advertised number and the real one and penalized it. Gemini listed options at $49.99 and $29.99 and still led with my business. The model rewards the number it can trust, not the lowest number.
No, and you should not hire anyone who promises it. Nobody controls what a model says, and the engines change constantly. What I control is whether your page is structurally citable, which I verify with a published seven point audit before and after. If your page cannot be improved on those seven checks, I will tell you that and not take the job.
No. Google returns ten links and lets the visitor choose, so classic SEO is a competition for position. An answer engine has to commit to a single answer and name a source, so it is a competition for trust. A page can rank on page one of Google and still never be cited by ChatGPT, which is exactly what was happening to this website before I fixed it.
Next step
Tell me the page and the question you think a customer would ask. I will run the seven checks and send you the score and the two biggest gaps, whether or not you hire me.
